I grew up playing soccer, and have been coaching kids with my husband Bruno for years. I know how important sports and recreation opportunities are for children's development.
Yet our youth are locked out of their own public spaces. Schools with perfectly good facilities sit empty after school. Meanwhile, the city's recreation program waitlists continue to grow, and getting a spot is like winning the lottery!
Parents shouldn't have to pay extra and travel across town for something that already exists in our own community.
As your City Councillor, I'll work to:
- Unlock our schools, so youth can have access to public facilities after the last bell rings
- Cut the waitlists for City recreation programs
- Create new job opportunities for youth in the community
