Announcements regarding utility bills and income taxes
- The government of Ontario has eliminated mid-peak and on-peak electricity rates for 45 days, which means you should see the off-peak hydro rate on your next hydro bill.
- The City of Toronto has introduced a 60-day grace period for the payment of property tax, water and waste bills, so you can postpone paying those bills at a later date.
- The government of Canada has extended the filing due date for 2019 income tax returns until June 1, 2020.

Save Money on your Water, Waste and Property Tax Bill
If you are a low-income senior or a low-income person living with a disability, you may be eligible for a rebate on your water, solid waste and property tax bill. If you are a person undergoing home dialysis treatment you may also qualify for a water rebate under the Home Dialysis Water Rebate Program. The application will be available online shortly and remember you have to reapply every year. This year's deadline is August 31, 2020.
